About KPITB
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board is a public sector autonomous organization established under an Act of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in May 2011 for the promotion of Information Technology, Information Technology enabled services and Information Technology enabled education for private sector of the Province of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the youngest of all provinces of Pakistan with 73.8% of its population under the age of 29 years. This presents a tremendous opportunity and a bright future if given due government-lead policy support and intervention in various sectors. The KPITB’s mission is to provide such government-lead support in the Information Technology sector. We strongly believe that the Information Technology has arguably the greatest impact on businesses, manufacturing, consumer, and several more industry sectors globally. KPITB aims to use I.T. as the main enabler to address the key challenge of employment generation in the KP, and making IT-lead and innovative businesses the major force of our economy.
Information Technology has arguably the greatest impact on businesses, manufacturing, consumer, and several more industry sectors. KPITB aims to use Information Technology. as the main enabler to address the key challenge of employment generation in the KP, and making IT-lead and other innovative businesses the major force of our economy.
As a part of the global evolution of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), the landscape has also changed in Pakistan. There are 133.3 million mobile phone users with 29.5 million having access to 3G/4G connectivity. Internet connectivity and access to smartphones have opened new horizons to the young generation. A great number of our youth are now resorting to freelancing as a reliable and permanent source of employment and the new entrants to the freelancing markets from the KP are ever on rise. We are also witnessing success stories coming out of the startup IT businesses in KP through expansion of their product-line, generating employment (team expansions) and considerable raise in revenue. Startup businesses have transformed into growth-stage businesses. Foreign companies are outsourcing their businesses processes to companies or their own branch offices in the KP. The local conventional businesses and industry sectors are getting transformed and dependent on IT enabled services, thereby adding to the client-pool available to the IT companies for further business opportunities. One of the strategic objectives of the KPITB is to multiply such success stories in the KP and expand the growth corridors through subsidies, capacity building, bridging the skill-gap, and incentivizing investments in the very diverse range of IT-enabled business.
We strongly believe that IT-lead businesses are the only quick and stable form of intervention that can enable the government address the issue of youth employment.
